Kansas’ winning 2-point conversion vs. Texas aided by missed holding call from officials
Kansas shocked Texas 57-56 in overtime Saturday night in Austin. The winning scoring play by the Jayhawks appeared to be aided by a non-call by Big 12 officials.
Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels found freshman fullback Jared Casey in the end zone for the winning 2-point conversion, but only after Texas rusher Ovie Oghoufo was held up by Jayhawks tackle Bryce Cabeldue, which enabled Daniels to scramble out of the pocket and make the throw under pressure.

The referee was the closest to the play, but did not throw his flag.
ESPN’s high end-zone angle of the play makes it appear clear that Cabeldue grabbed Oghoufo by his right shoulder and turned him. A 10-yard penalty for holding would have forced Kansas to retry (with a kick or play from scrimmage) from the Longhorns’ 13.
And while the non-call will get the most attention, it should also be noted that a Texas penalty on the preceding series gave the Jayhawks an extra-short field for its series.

Longhorns receiver Marcus Washington was called for unsportsmanlike conduct for spinning the ball after a tie-breaking touchdown reception on Texas’ OT possession. The penalty was half the distance to the goal, meaning Kansas was able to start its overtime drive from the Texas 12.
Four plays later, Devin Neal rushed 2 yards for a touchdown to cut the Longhorns’ lead to 56-55. Then came the fateful 2-point play.

The Jayhawks (2-8, 1-6 Big 12) played a relatively clean game, based on penalties. They were flagged four times for 30 yards. Texas (4-6, 2-5) committed 10 penalties for 97 yards.
