Best known for her work on the K-drama series ‘Zombie Detective’, the actress and model was reportedly found dead in her home on April 11.
Her agency confirmed the shocking news and issued a statement that read, “Actress Jung Chae Yull has left our side on April 11, 2023.”
Asking fans for privacy, the note further read, “In accordance with the wishes of the bereaved family who must have been in greater sadness than anyone else, the funeral will be held quietly in private. Please wish for Jung Chae Yull, who had always been earnest in her pursuit of acting, to rest in peace in a warm place.”
No cause of death was announced. However, the agency did request fans and the media to “refrain from writing speculative articles or spreading rumours.”
Shortly after word spread of her sudden demise, the actress’ last social media post went viral online. Fans took to their handles to express their shock and disbelief while sharing photos of Jung Chae Yull, just three days before her demise.
The actress, who was shooting for her upcoming drama ‘Wedding Impossible’, had shared a series of monochrome clicks that saw her sipping on a drink and listening to music. One of the photos also saw her with a wine bottle in her hand as she posed for a mirror selfie.
Fans of the actress flooded the comments section offering their condolences and saying “Rest in peace angel.”
Another said, “You deserved more love than this world could give.”
Another wrote, “I love you Chae Yull. I will pray for you to be happy in heaven.”
Following the news of her death, the production house backing her latest drama, halted the shoot and offered their condolences. In a statement to media outlets, the future of the drama that is set to be her final screen venture is currently under internal discussion.
The actress starred in the fashion reality TV series Devil’s Runway in 2016, followed by making her film debut in 2018 with Deep. She later starred in the dramas Zombie Detective and I Have Not Done My Best Yet.
