Juggernaut South Carolina set for incredible Final Four matchup with Caitlin Clark and Iowa

The South Carolina women’s basketball program is on a tear, and it’s a run that encapsulates not only this season for the Gamecocks.

By beating second-seeded Maryland 86-75 in the Elite Eight, South Carolina improved to 36-0 on the season, reached its third straight Final Four, and is now two wins away from a perfect season as well as winning back-to-back national championships.

How’s that for a resume for coach Dawn Staley’s team?

It was a dominant win for South Carolina, highlighted by 22 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists from senior forward Aliyah Boston. Senior guard Zia Cooke added 18 points and eight rebounds, while another senior guard, Brea Beal, finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists, three steals, and two blocks.

It was a dominant buzzer-to-buzzer performance from the Gamecocks, who now go on to face the No. 2-seeded Iowa Hawkeyes in the Final Four.

Speaking of dominance, Boston, Cooke, and Beal will have quite a challenge on their hands as they match up with Iowa junior guard Caitlin Clark in the national semifinal.

Clark averaged 27.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game for Iowa and is coming off an incredible performance in the Elite Eight that saw her put up 41 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists, and three steals against Louisville.
