Jude Bellingham ‘is set to reject Borussia Dortmund’s offer of £230,000-a-week’ in Real Madrid move

Jude Bellingham is set to reject a last-ditch offer from Borussia Dortmund, after they presented improved terms in a bid to see off interest from Real Madrid. 

Bellingham, who is among the leading young players in world football, appears to be Madrid-bound and is on course to become the club’s second-highest earner this summer. 

But according to Bild, Dortmund offered the 19-year-old fresh terms of a club record £12million-a-year (£230,000-a-week). 

Real look poised to see off competition from Manchester City and Liverpool, who were both interested in the English midfielder, although the Reds distanced themselves from the race in April.

But it is the Spanish club in the driver’s seat and Bild report that they will be paying Bellingham £17.4m-a-year (£334,000-a-week), making him their second-highest earner behind Eden Hazard.

The midfielder is poised to join Real Madrid this summer as their next Galactico 

The fee to be paid to Dortmund is anticipated to be in the region of £130m. 

Bellingham will be desperate to see out his time with Dortmund in style, if he is indeed to move on this summer.

His brace in a 6-1 thumping of Wolfsburg at the weekend helped close the gap to Bayern Munich to one point with three games left. 

Despite negotiations with Real appearing to be advanced, Bellingham’s boss Eden Terzic said: ‘I haven’t even heard from him that he’s involved with another club.’

And back in March he said: ‘With all respect for Jude and his performance, we are answering these kinds of questions since he arrived (in 2020).

‘Before he chose to join us, he had opportunities to join the Premier League. There was loads of interest from top-flight clubs.

‘But he chose to join us because he knows it can be the perfect step for him. I think we’ve proven it both ways. He’s helping us a lot. But we as a club are helping him and his career as well.’

But it seems Dortmund are unable to compete with the financial muscle or lure of Real, who will insert a reported release clause of £875million, the equivalent of €1billion. 

It remains to be seen whether Carlo Ancelotti will still be at Real next season 

Liverpool distancing themselves from a move over fears about the high transfer fee and wage, while also battling to secure Champions League football, swung the transfer race in Real’s favour. 

And Man City did not submit a formal offer for the midfielder. 

Identifying him as the crown prince to Luka Modric’s midfield throne, the 14-time European champion’s chief scout Juni Calafat met with Bellingham’s father, Mark, earlier this year and communication has continued between the respective parties.  

It would now be a surprise to see Bellingham end up anywhere but the Bernabeu this summer.
