JP Nadda takes stock of Uttarakhand poll preparations

BJP’s national president JP Nadda, who arrived in Haridwar on Friday as part of his two-day visit to the state, held meetings with party leaders, including ministers, heads of all BJP frontal organisations and district presidents, to take stock of the party’s preparation for the 2022 assembly polls.

Nadda was accompanied by BJP’s national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh and the in-charge of BJP’s Uttarakhand unit Dushyant Gautam at all the meetings. All five MPs were also present at the meetings. Nadda was received by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and party state unit president Madan Kaushik at the Jolly Grant airport.

“During his meeting with MLAs and ministers, Nadda emphasised the importance of local issues and the need to stay focussed on them in the run-up to the assembly polls,” said a legislator who attended one of the meeting. Nadda asked legislators to ensure proper coordination with the party organisation. “Nadda told the ministers to take up on priority the schemes that can be finished before the polls,” he said. Nadda held a separate meeting with the party’s state unit functionaries, district presidents and heads of the party’s frontal organisations. “This meeting continued for about one-and-ahalf hours. He told the district presidents to stay at every booth in their areas and interact with the members of booth committees. He underlined the need for touring every part of the district continuously and ensuring communication with the voters. He asked us to make people aware about the various schemes launched by the state government and the Centre,” a district president, who did not wish to be quoted, told ET. Nadda will also collect feedback on the performance of the state government during his meeting with the chief minister and ministers at a meeting which would be held on Friday evening.

On Saturday, Nadda will interact with exarmy men at a programme ‘Sainik Samman’ at Railwala. Then, he would also hold a meeting with the BJP’s newly-elected zilla panchayat presidents, mayors and block pramukhs. Later, he will seek blessings from the sadhus (saints).
