JP Dutta’s daughter Nidhi Dutta debunks reports of Border 2 being shelved due to legal issues, calls it ‘baseless crap’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Recently, there were reports that a sequel to Sunny Deol’s 1997 war film Border was under development. The buzz also claimed that the film got delayed and eventually shelved due to legal issues. But it seems like these are mere speculations as Nidhi Dutta, daughter of producer and daughter of filmmaker JP Dutta, has debunked these ongoing claims.
Reacting to the news of Border 2 getting shelved due to legal issues, Nidhi slammed the leading publication on Instagram by asking them to make sure their sources connect and check with her before putting out ‘baseless crap’ in their newspaper.
In August, Sunny had cleared the air that he hasn’t signed any film after the success of Gadar 2. He also revealed on The Ranveer Show that he was meant to start Border 2 in 2015 before it was shelved. He also mentioned that people were scared to make Border 2 after his films started bombing at the box office. He then quipped now everybody wants to make it after Gadar 2 became an all-time blockbuster.Speaking about his wish to make Border 2, Sunny had said, “Those characters were really lovely. When I watch a film today, I want to see an extension of those characters. I feel like doing it, but the story should lend a justification to that character. So that those who come to watch the film and hope it’ll be fun, they’re not disappointed, like they’re getting that fun in my film Gadar 2.”
Border is a significant landmark in Indian cinema, known for its portrayal of the Battle of Longewala during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Sunny Deol portrayed the character of Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri, the commanding officer at the Longewala post. His portrayal of a courageous and determined officer leading his troops in the face of overwhelming odds is one of the standout performances in the film.
