Jordan Clarkson is bizarrely fined a huge $15,000 for throwing his headband into the stands in anger

Utah Jazz star Jordan Clarkson is bizarrely fined a huge $15,000 for throwing his headband into the stands in frustration… despite it not being close to hitting any fans

Jordan Clarkson’s seemingly victimless expression of frustration will see him catch a $15,000 fine from the NBA.

During a game between the Utah Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday, Clarkson was walking towards his team’s bench while a Portland player was shooting free throws.

As Clarkson got to his sideline, he took off his headband and threw it into the stands in anger.

Despite his choice to throw it into an area that had no fans and was only empty seats, NBA EVP and head of basketball operations Joe Dumars still chose to hand down the fine.

Earlier in the game, before that expression of anger was caught on camera, Clarkson was driving the lane to make a layup, when he was hit by Portland’s Jabari Walker on the arm.

Clarkson then tumbled to the ground, with Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic adding insult to injury and landing on top of him.

Referees did not call a foul on Walker or Nurkic during that play, and the frustration from that must have stayed with Clarkson.

The Jazz lost that game 116-111 – continuing their skid after starting the season as one of the best teams in the Western Conference.

Utah has lost nine of their last 13 games – including to the Chicago Bulls, the New York Knicks, and the Detroit Pistons. All three of those teams currently sit out of the playoffs as of the most recent standings.

The Jazz host the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night in the hopes they can recover their position in the Northwest division standings.
