Jonathan Cohen Brings His Signature Whimsical Floral Dresses to Amazon in Extended Sizes

Fans of Jonathan Cohen know the New York–based designer first and foremost for his strikingly colorful dresses covered in blooms. Of course, Cohen makes pants, knits, jumpsuits, and even suits—but the sensorial floral dresses have become key to his lexicon.

And now for the first time, a selection of those vivid dresses are available in extended sizes from XS through 5X. Luxury Stores at Amazon has released an exclusive capsule collection of seven printed dresses, from a red one-shoulder option printed with painterly blossoms to a black minidress covered in a flutter of rainbow stars. The playfulness of Cohen’s work is all there, captured through an abstract medley of rainbow stripes, pink lilies that look like they came directly out of an oil painting, and Pop art–like poppies on a background of cerulean blue.

Given the fact that most of Cohen’s work is typically only sold in sizes XS through XL, with the majority of all dresses priced over $1,000, this capsule makes major strides toward a bigger picture of inclusivity for the brand, and prices range from $395 to $450. “My goal with this capsule and designing in general has always been to uplift and inspire,” Cohen says. “If I can help someone to feel better about themselves through fashion, then my job is complete. That is what motivates me.”

There’s an added element of sustainability too: Cohen often includes upcycling as a part of his collections. Last season he used scrap fabric from previous seasons to create the paillettes on pants, and for this collection the focus was on using sustainable materials, such as recycled jersey and ponte.

As for the campaign, the brand cast an assortment of people to showcase its diverse roots, including Aaron Philip, the first Black, transgender, and physically disabled model to ever be represented by a major modeling agency, as well as the first model to ever walk a runway for a major luxury brand in a wheelchair. Cohen has fostered a personal relationship with Philip, as one of the first designers to dress her in the industry. Also in the campaign? Model La’Shaunae Steward. The images were shot by photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis and styled by Heidi Bivens.

With dopamine dressing on the rise, it’s clear these dresses were designed with all-around positivity in mind.
