Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard: Juror breaks silence, claims actress’ ‘crocodile tears’, ‘ice cold’ testimony among reasons why she lost case – Times of India

Weeks after the dust has settled on the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard defamation case, a member of the seven bench jury is breaking his silence about the verdict and reveals why the actress lost the suit against her ex-husband.

Speaking to ‘Good Morning America’ the Juror claimed that Heard’s emotional testimony was just not ‘realistic’ and admitted that it made them ‘uncomfortable’.

“A lot of her story didn’t add up… the majority of the jury felt that she was the aggressor. The crying, the facial expressions that she had, the staring at the jury. All of us were very uncomfortable,” the juror said and went on to point out, “She would answer one question and she would be crying, and two seconds later she would turn ice cold.”

Revealing how the emotional testimony was perceived by the panel, the juror said, “Some of us used the expression ‘crocodile tears’.”

The male juror who, under the condition of anonymity, gave several quotes to the news portal and even detailed by Johnny Depp’s testimony was more ‘believable’.

“A lot of the jury felt what he was saying, at the end of the day, was more believable. He just seemed a little more real in terms of how he was responding to questions. His emotional state was very stable throughout,” the juror said.

Interestingly, the juror even admitted that the panel thought that “they were abusive towards each other,” but it was Amber’s tall claims without providing any evidence that lead to her losing the case and having to pay Depp around $10 million.

“I don’t think that makes either of them right or wrong, but to rise to the level of what she was claiming, there wasn’t enough evidence that really supported what she was saying,” the juror said.

Questions about social media also playing a role in swaying the final verdict was also brought up during the interview. The juror pushed back on the allegations by Heard’s team and said, “We followed the evidence. Myself and at least two other jurors don’t use Twitter or Facebook. Others who had it made a point not to talk about it.”

Amber not donating the $7 million divorce settlement was also the topic of discussion. The juror said that contrary to the actress’ claims that she ‘pledged’ the amount, “She goes on a talk show in the UK. The video shows her sitting there telling the host she gave all that money away. And the terms she used in the video clip were ‘I gave it away,’ ‘I donated it’ ‘it’s gone.’”

In a recent interview, Amber commented on the topic of her decision to donate the divorce settlement to Non-Profit Organisations. While stating that she planned to honour the pledge, she said, “I feel like so much of the trial was meant to cast dispersions on who I am as a human, my credibility, to call me a liar in every way you can.”

Going by the reports, it seems that it wasn’t just the netizens who were irked by the actress defence about giving up the money to charity when it was proven that she had not completed the financial transaction.

Previously, ACLU executives also testified that they had not received the money pledged by the actress since 2019 due to some “financial difficulties” she was facing.
