J&K LG inaugurates multipurpose cinema halls in northern Kashmir
Sinha, during the inauguration function at Dak Bunglow of Baramulla said that cinema is returning to northern Kashmir after three decades and movie theatres are a reflection of growing aspiration of J&K.
“The 100-seater multipurpose cinema halls at both the locations will provide a big-screen experience. It has a cafe, VR, conference and seminar facilities for youth,” said Sinha. According to Rahul Nehra of Jadooz Media, who have set up the cinema hall here under Public Private Partnership model, the first movie to screen here is Shahrukh Khan starrer Pathaan.
The LG also clarified that no outsider would be given land in J&K under the PMAY scheme. He informed that the administration has decided to give landless families 5 malras of land each under the PMAY scheme so that they can construct their own houses.
“So far, 1,99500 homes have been sanctioned for homeless families. This includes 46000 SC and ST category families who were eligible for the scheme. Besides 2711 families who had no land,” he informed. “Unfortunately, some people are misleading common people by claiming that land is being given to outsiders…those who grabbed state land illegally, constructed huge houses have no right to mislead people,” he said.
The LG, without naming the political parties who had raised these concerns, said that they should stop spreading confusion as the land to landless scheme and a house under PMAY will unleash the full potential of thousands of families and will meet their basic needs. He alleged that the decision has triggered panic among certain influential people and many vested interests are trying to disrupt J&K’s growth.“Government wants to see the last person in the queue get a sense of empowerment and I want to assure these families that a promising future awaits you…cronyism, unethical nexus which had thrived in J&K for 70 years is being dismantled systematically,” he said. The LG urged people to stand united with the government against those who have misguided youth for decades and help in establishing peace. Sinha also inaugurated other developmental projects worth Rs 4 crore.
