JJ Watt has pledged to pay back a fan who could have won a lucrative amount of money, only for a controversial call to deny him in the Cardinals’ 27-17 win against the Rams on Sunday.

With Arizona up 10-3 at SoFi Stadium towards the end of the second quarter, Watt had thought he’d secured his first touchdown in two years after his teammate, Myjai Sanders, had forced a fumble on Rams backup quarterback, John Wolford.

The 33-year-old followed the play until the end and picked up the football, running to the end zone with no players in royal blue and gold in sight.

However, referees saw the play differently and ultimately ruled that an incomplete forward pass had occurred.

Therefore, Watt was not awarded a touchdown that’d probably have gone up as one of the easiest he’d have ever scored in his 12-year career. The refs’ call also denied a fan who was actually set to win $1,000.

The fan went on to share a screenshot of his $27 wager to Watt, in which he asks the star if he wants to ‘help a brotha out.’

The two-time NFL sacks leaders noticed the fan’s outreach after the game and said he’d help him out.

‘Yeah you got screwed. (we both did),’ Watt tweeted. ‘I got you. DM your address.’

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year has never backed away from helping others in the past.

Though the list of Watt’s philanthropic accomplishments is endless, he once raised over $1million through his foundation to provide after-school opportunities for children to learn a sport that’d potentially interest them.

Most of the schools that benefit from the charity work are in Texas, Wisconsin and Alabama, as well as Illinois, and California.

The player also noticeably gathered over $37million to help Houston (his previous home for 11 years) recover from Hurricane Harvey in 2017.

Later that year, Watt received the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, ‘which honors a player’s commitment to philanthropy and community impact, as well as his excellence on the field.’

A year later, the defensive end offered to pay for the funeral of the eight students and two teachers who were shot dead in the Sante Fe High School shooting. Last year, he paid for the funeral services of six people who were killed in the Waukesha Christmas parade attack.
