Jisshu Sengupta : I said yes to Trial because of Kajol – Exclusive – Times of India

Jisshu Sengupta, a stalwart of Bengali cinema, is slowly but steadily making inroads into Hindi cinema. Beyond movies, he is now venturing into the OTT space. Jisshu will be seen in the Indian adaptation of The Good Wife, titled ‘Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha’, wherein he essays the role of Peter Florrick (originally played by Chris Noth), who gets involved in a sex scandal.
One of the common factors in most of the roles essayed by Sengupta has been that he always ends up playing a good husband to strong female characters, like sharing the frame with Vidya Balan in ‘Shaunkatala Devi‘ and Rani Mukerji in ‘Mardaani’. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, when asked what makes him such good husband material, he instantly broke into a laughter and stated, “My team and I have sat down and discussed that we should not be going into this zone anymore as I’m getting typecast. If you need a good husband and if he’s on sale, get Jisshu Sengupta. But with this show, I’m not a good husband, my character has got a lot of layers. He wants to win back his wife, win back his family but he also wants to do something for his career as he also loves himself a lot. “
However, this hatke husband role was not what attracted Jisshu to sign up for ‘Trial’. “The biggest reason for me to say yes to the show was Kajol, I’m a big fan of hers and when I was told she is part of the show … how could I have said no to it?” added Sengupta.
