Jiobharat: Reliance launches cheapest internet-enabled phone in India, JioBharat phone – Times of India

Reliance Jio has launched the cheapest internet-enabled phone in India — JioBharat phone. The all-new Jio Bharat phone is priced at Rs 999, claimed to be the lowest entry price for an internet-enabled phone.
JioBharat phone features
The Jio Bharat phone comes with a camera and FM Radio. The JioBharat phone will come with JioCinema and JioSaavn preinstalled. According to the company, JioSaavn will have 8 crore-plus songs in multiple languages. The phone will support UPI Payments with JioPay. It also has a torch built-in.
“There are still 250 million mobile phone users in India who remain ‘trapped’ in the 2G era, unable to tap into basic features of the internet at a time when the world stands at the cusp of a 5G revolution,” said Akash Ambani, chairman, Reliance Jio, on the launch of the JioBharat phone.
Reliance Jio, however, has not shared any other specifications of the phone. It is not known what operating system the phone will run on also if there will be support for any app store. From the picture shared by the company, JioBharat phone appears similar to a feature phone with around 1.7 inch screen.
Beta trial and data plan
According to the company, beta trial for first 1 million Jio Bharat phones start from July 7, 2023 onwards. The company has also launched a special plan for the phone that starts at Rs 123. The Rs 123 per month plan offers unlimited voice calls and 14GB data.
