Jewish Museum in Berlin denies Vivek Agnihotri’s claims of event organised for ‘Humanity Tour’ – Times of India

Vivek Agnihotri, the director of the ‘Kashmir Files’, made headlines when he revealed in a Twitter post that he has organised a month-long ‘Humanity Tour’ with his actress wife, Pallavi Joshi across various locations in Europe.

On the list of his multi-city tour, the director was scheduled to visit The Jewish Museum in Berlin. However, according to the latest reports, the museum has denied claims that it has planned an event with the filmmaker to “spread awareness about the problems of Genocide and Terrorism and how Indic Principles of Humanity” can help solve it.

According to a report on The Wire, the museum committee said over an email, “There is no event planned with Mr. Agnihotri from our side, nor are we aware of any official visit to the museum.”

Agnihotri’s tweet mentioned that his ‘Humanity Tour’ was scheduled to take place from May 28 to June 26, 2022, across the United Kingdom, Germany and Netherlands, including Nehru Centre London, Fitzwilliam College Cambridge University, Oxford University, Leicester University, Birmingham Community, Parliament Of UK, Babylon Theatre Berlin, Community Meet Berlin, Salzachlieder Frankfurt and Global Human Rights Defence, among other places.

Early this month, the director’s tour hit the headlines when the Oxford Union ‘postponed’ the event prompting Agnihotri to take threaten to sue the student-run debating society.

“It was all confirmed via emails, but just a few hours before they said, ‘Sorry we made a mistake, there was a double-booking and we cannot host you today.’ And without even asking me, they changed the date to July 1, when no student would be there, and there is no point in doing an event,” the director was quoted saying in the video while calling the action as ‘Hinduphobic’ and alleged that the university was oppressing the minority of Hindus.

Agnihotri’s ‘Kashmir Files’ crossed the Rs 300 crore mark worldwide. The film that was made tax-free in several states across the country, faced some bans in parts of the world for an alleged ‘one-sided portrayal’ of the Muslim community.

After the success of the film, the director has announced his plans to move on to his next film which will be titled, ‘The Delhi Files’ which is said to focus on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
