Jennifer Lopez’s Summer Maxi Dress Shows Skin in an Unexpected Way

While it’s technically still spring until June 21, stars like Rihanna, Katie Holmes, and Jennifer Lawrence have already been spotted wearing swishy, floor-length hemlines in anticipation of the scorching season. It’s an effortless and airy piece that’s not fussy and super easy to style—no wonder it’s a hit! But leave it to Jennifer Lopez to put her own twist on the look. The singer was spotted shopping in Los Angeles today wearing a more elevated (and unexpected) version of the summery essential. 

Lopez embraced the long, flowy dress—but in designer denim form. She chose Valentino’s blue jean maxi dress, which was punctuated with gold “V” logos on the front pockets. At $4,700, it’s certainly luxe. If you think a floor-length denim design sounds heavy for the summer, fear not: Lopez’s dress came complete with strategic slits alongside the front, sides, and back reaching up to her hips—a bold way to show skin, and allow for some air flow. The star styled the look with pointed knee boots and a Gucci hobo bag, but you could easily swap the accessories for a flat sandal and mini bag, and be ready for the heat. Of course, no Lopez look is complete without a pair of huge sleazy-chic aviators, too. It’s a J.Lo must.
