Jassie Gill says Punjabis aren’t comedians, credits Diljit Dosanjh for changing the way Bollywood viewed Sardars – Times of India
Speaking to a news portal, Jassie said that they often used to talk about the representation of Punjabis in Hindi films. He said that earlier Bollywood used to show Sardars as comedians. He also added that their looks was not authentic especially the way they wore turbans.
He said that they are thankful to Diljit paaji for changing this perception and showed people that Punjabis aren’t comedians. He also created awareness that Punjabis are stylish about the kind of work they do.
Diljit made his Bollywood debut with Udta Punjab. He then went on to act in films such as Phillauri, Soorma, Arjun Patiala and Good Newwz.
Jassie, on the other hand, made his film debut with the Punjabi comedy Mrs & Mrs 420. He then made his Hindi debut with Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi. He has also acted in Panga and Kya Meri Sonam Gupta Bewafa Hai?
He will now be seen playing the role of one of Salman’s on-screen brothers in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. He has been paired opposite Palak Tiwari, daughter of Shweta Tiwari, who will be making her debut in Bollywood with this film. Directed by Farhad Samji, the movie also stars Shehnaaz Gill, Vinali Bhatnagar, Venkatesh Daggubati, Pooja Hegde, Bhumika Chawla, Jagapathi Babu, Raghav Juyal and Siddharth Nigam.
