Jarvis Landry released, Chiefs rumored to be interested

With the Cleveland Browns releasing veteran wide receiver Jarvis Landry, it looks like the Chiefs could end up signing him to make plays for Patrick Mahomes.

In what’s been a bonkers week in NFL free agency, things have continued on Monday with even more big news. This includes an update out of Cleveland, with the Browns officially parting ways with wideout Jarvis Landry.

Landry, who is getting ready for his ninth NFL campaign, figures to draw plenty of interest in free agency. According to Ian Rapoport, the Kansas City Chiefs will be a team to watch here.

Kansas City signing Jarvis Landry in free agency makes sense

With the Chiefs looking to add more weapons for Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City showing interest in Landry is a no-brainer. He’s a five-time Pro-Bowler and has been fantastic throughout his career. Things just didn’t work out with him in Cleveland as Landry would have hoped, and the writing was on the wall for him once the team traded for Amari Cooper.

Now, Landry is free to sign wherever he wants. With the 5-11, 195-pounder turning 30 in November, you’d figure he’d prioritize joining a contender so he can try and win a Super Bowl in the coming years.

Landry had a bit of a down year in 2021, as he hauled in 52 balls for 570 yards and two touchdowns. Those were all career lows for him, but he only appeared in 12 games for the Browns due to injury. You can’t forget about all the drama the team went through as well.

In the coming days and weeks, you can expect the interest on Landry to pick up plenty of steam. We could find out soon where he’ll be playing in 2022, with the Chiefs definitely being a team that’s going to be in the mix.
