Janhvi Kapoor reacts to being called ‘nepo baby’ on social media despite working hard; says it is very ‘hurtful’ – Times of India

Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor might have had an easier time than others in the industry. However, the actress has had her share of struggles. In a recent interview, she opened up about people constantly questioning her acting skills on the internet just because she is a star kid.
Janhvi said that she is prioritising hard work and she has always been very clear about her goals in life. According to her, she wishes to live up to her late mother’s legacy. The actress also clarified that this doesn’t come from a place of arrogance, but a desire to want to give back to her parents, as well as the audiences. Janhvi also went on to say that while she might have gotten certain opportunities more easily, she also feels like she is at a disadvantage. In that sense, people aren’t going to come and watch her films from a neutral perspective. So she has to convince them that she has something to offer. She added that she loves cinema, and she is not apologetic about it anymore, because she knows she is good at what she does. She is just warming up, Janhvi told Harper’s Bazaar.

In the same interview, the ‘Mili’ actress also spoke about people’s reaction to her performance and films. Janhvi stated that it really hurts when she is putting in so much hard work, sweat and blood, or undergoing mental turmoil, and some random, anonymous person on the internet calls her ‘nepo baby’ on the internet. According to her, it takes all of a second to reduce you to something insignificant.

She also went on to say that if people give her constructive criticism, she would respect that. According to her, you get to a point where you just have to acknowledge that some people are plain sad — for the lack of a better word — and are on a quest to snatch away your happiness.

On the work front, she will next be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Bawaal’, co-starring Varun Dhawan. The actress also has ‘Mr And Mrs Mahi’ with Rajkummar Rao in her kitty.
