Jain community objects against ‘The Magic of Shiri’, makers postpone release – Exclusive – Times of India
A source told ETimes, “The show was to go live on Jio Cinema from today but has been postponed after the Jaincommunity objected to certain scenes in the series, especially the diksha scene.” The Jain Khabar thanked the platform for pulling out the objectionable trailer of the web series with a caution note of asking the makers to do some research before telecasting anything on Jainism.When ETimes reached out to the platform, the maintained a ‘no comments’ stance.
Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya essays the titular role in this series, which narrates the story of Shiri Shah chasing her dreams of becoming a magician while tackling the odds. Shiri’s life takes an unexpected turn when her husband abruptly leaves to become a Jain monk, leaving her to face the challenges of single-handedly providing for her children.
