‘From every player to every fan across the country, when we say we are behind this England team, this is why. Welcome to the team.’

Grealish performed the ‘Worm’ – by special request from Finlay – after scoring in England’s opening World Cup game and later FaceTimed the young fan to discuss his thoughts on the celebration.

The duo struck up a relationship when Finlay wrote a letter to Grealish after discovering that his sister, Hollie, also has cerebral palsy.

This meant he was later offered the chance to meet Grealish in person as part of the Premier League’s ‘Fan Mail’ initiative.

During their meeting, the youngster urged his idol to perform a special celebration when he next found the back of the net, holding his arms out wide and wiggling them after unsuccessfully asking him to do the worm.

Grealish remembered to pay tribute to him and performed the celebration in a heartwarming moment which quickly went viral on social media.

It was a dream come true for Finlay, who plays disability football at Manchester City and idolises the England international. When they spoke on the phone, he told the footballer: ‘I thought you had forgotten’.

Grealish, from the England camp in Doha told the youngster: ‘You are famous now. You have been (seen) everywhere over the past 24 hours.’

Finlay smiled broadly as he told the player of his excitement at seeing his hero score and then keep his promise with the dance move.

The young Man City fan will be hoping Grealish pulls out the dance moves again if he gets on the scoresheet in their next game against reigning champions France.
