Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant headed straight to the locker room after a hard fall where he appeared to suffer a hand injury against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The injury occurred with just under the six-minute mark in the fourth quarter while the game was separated by only four points.

Morant remained out for the rest of the fourth quarter as the Lakers would go on to win 128-112, with the Grizzlies star’s absence strongly felt by his teammates.

Before leaving with the injury Morant had recorded 18 points, six rebounds, and two assists as he was productively conducting the Grizzlies as seen many times before.

According to Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins, Morant’s x-rays were negative and the medical team was still evaluating his hand and wrist.

‘He’s in some pain,’ said Jenkins, as Morant was still being evaluated by the medical staff.

Morant was already dealing with a hand injury that saw him sit out the final two games of the regular season.

If he is forced to miss any time with the injury, the Grizzlies have proved that they are still capable of being a winning team without him.

Earlier this season when Morant was suspended for ‘conduct detrimental to the league,’ after he showed a gun on his Instagram live while partying in a strip the Grizzlies went 6-3 in his absence.

Even though he faced a suspension which was back dated several games after he willingly stepped away from the team for several days neither the NBA nor Colorado police were able to find laws or league rules that he actually broke.

Last season when Morant missed an extended period of time due to an injury, Memphis also went 20-5 while he recovered.

Despite this ability to win games without their best player Memphis would still miss Morant and the 26.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 8.1 assists he averaged during the regular season if he is forced to miss time.

Morant also recently made off-the-court headlines after he countersued the 17-year-old that made several allegations against Morant and his associates that likely played a part in the suspension while also playing a large part in the unjust criticism and defamatory comments the All-NBA point guard has faced.
