J. Lo’s Ben Affleck Thirst Trap Was the Platonic Ideal of Father’s Day Posting

Ah, Father’s Day. It’s a holiday that seems designed to make those without dads or father figures in their lives feel bad about themselves—and even for those of us who do have dads we can frantically text for help using a screwdriver, it’s a minefield. I somehow forget Father’s Day every single year, eventually texting and/or calling my dad (who does not care) in a panic to beg his forgiveness. But you know who remembered on Sunday? One Jennifer Lynn Affleck, formerly-slash-forever known as J. Lo.

Jen’s too-in-love-to-care couples style with husband Ben Affleck has always been admirable to me, not least because of her willingness to embrace the Dunkin’ lifestyle. But she went above and beyond with her Father’s Day Instagram post for Affleck, which featured a thirst trap of his extremely jacked bod:

Does Ben look like an extremely pissed-off action figure here? Yes, but that’s not the point. How bold and weird and iconic is it to post a rugged, shirtless pic of your husband…on Father’s Day? Sure, we pretend the holiday is all about celebrating the dads in our lives and asking them about football or gardening or whatever it is they’re into, but let’s be real: Father’s Day is about scoping out your friends’ Instagrams and noting that their dads all look hot in the throwback pictures they’ve posted. (So is Mother’s Day, but that already happened.)

Some people are criticizing Jen for not posting pics of her or Affleck’s kids (or referencing her kids’ dad, Marc Anthony, in her post), but a) she’s a celebrity who probably doesn’t feature her kids online without an endorsement deal, and b) let the woman live! She’s been famous for most of her life, she was very publicly engaged to the saddest man in Boston, and now they’re finally together. Who are we to tell her not to post beefcake shirtless shots of the guy she’s been entangled with since the aughts? More hot dad pics, please! For science!
