Is Josh Gordon playing on Sunday night? Fantasy update for Bills-Chiefs Week 5 Sunday Night Football
Josh Gordon is one of those players who fantasy football owners just can’t seem to quit. Despite numerous injuries, off-field issues, and suspensions, you can usually find him on a fantasy team if he’s on an active NFL roster. After signing with the Chiefs two weeks ago, Gordon is eligible to make his season debut on Sunday Night Football against the Bills, and chances are, his owners are considering him in their Week 5 start ’em, sit ’em decisions. Of course, he has to be playing in order to even be a real possibility. With his status technically still up in the air, knowing the latest updates is key.
We’ll continue to update this article with the latest news on Gordon up until the official active/inactive report comes out on Sunday around 6:50 p.m. ET. For all the latest fantasy updates, follow us on Twitter @SN_Fantasy.

Is Josh Gordon playing on Sunday night?
Gordon was recently reinstated after a lengthy suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. The Chiefs quickly signed him, and earlier this week, he was promoted from the practice squad. That doesn’t mean he’ll for sure be active, but coach Andy Reid indicated on Monday that Gordon at least has a chance to play against the Bills and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday night that Gordon will play in Week 5.
WEEK 5 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker
There are plenty of reasons not be in a rush to put Gordon in fantasy lineups, from the possibility of significantly limited snaps to potential weather concerns. The bottom line is most fantasy owners, outside those in very deep leagues, should have better and more reliable options than a guy who hasn’t played since 2019 and hasn’t been consistently productive since ’13. There’s no reason to wait around until Sunday Night Football for a guy who might not even be active.
WEEK 5 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker
It’s entirely possible that Gordon makes a big play. We know how potent the Chiefs offense is and how well Patrick Mahomes can spread the ball around. Still, the targets figure to be dominated by TE Travis Kelce and WR Tyreek Hill, and it’s impossible to predict who else will contribute on a week-to-week basis. Give Gordon a few games to see how he settles into Kansas City’s offense before considering him a legitimate fantasy option.
