In an exciting announcement back in 2020, it was revealed that Ashutosh Gowariker would be producing a film centered around the success story of a popular FMCG chain, with Kiara Advani in the lead role. Titled ‘Karram Kurram‘, the film took inspiration from the famous TV commercial of the FMCG chain.
However, in October of last year, rumours started circulating that Advani had exited the project. Some sections of the media suggested that she didn’t quite fit the character, while others speculated that the makers felt she lacked the marketing prowess to carry an entire film on her own. Another section claimed that her busy schedule led to her departure. Following her exit, several other actors were approached for the role, but as of now, no one has been confirmed. The filming was initially scheduled to begin early this year, but due to the uncertainty surrounding the lead actor, it has been pushed to Diwali.
Recent reports indicate that the film, to be directed by Glenn and Ankush, will face further delays as they plan to recreate an entire Girgaum chawl at Film City. This elaborate set construction is expected to take several months to complete, thus adding to the postponement of the project.
