IPL 2023: No workload issues for Mumbai Indians’ all-rounder Cameron Green in big year | Cricket News – Times of India
Both teams are yet to win a game and have been ordinary at best. Yet, the big guns from MI decided to turn up for practice while Capitals had just Anrich Nortje and Ishant Sharma as the ‘seniors’ who showed up.
With Green, there’s a whole different context. He is the latest marquee player in international cricket. He is touted to be the next big fast-bowling allrounder. And this could be the ‘big year’ that could determine his reputation and justify the Rs 17.5 crore deal from MI.
A maiden IPL followed by the World Test Championship final against India, the Ashes and the ODI World Cup to round off the year, Green is literally standing on a potential launchpad to absolute stardom. These two months in India could just be the start.
“The first step is to accept this is going to be a big year. Secondly, when you are around the Australian team you get the energy from the people you know. Then you join this new group here at Mumbai Indians. There’s this new energy. There are people that you haven’t met before and new friends that I have made. So, you work along with it,” Green said on Monday.
While in India, you can’t escape the discussion on workload management. The Indian team has been fretting over preserving its players in the lead up to the World Cup. And here’s Green literally hopping planes and going through extensive training sessions.

IPL 2023: Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians aim to break winless streak
“There’s absolutely no load management,” he said, curtly dismissing a question on whether Cricket Australia had given him any specific instructions. “I have been given all clear for the whole tournament.”
It’s obvious his preparations are not just restricted to doing well in IPL. He may have been valued for his white-ball prowess but his red-ball cricket is never left in the backyard. Thus, the discussions with Sachin Tendulkar.
“Whenever Sachin talks, you listen. He was talking about keeping the bat slightly closed face to keep balls on ground in red-ball cricket. And in white-ball cricket, opening up the face of the bat helps you to access balls on the off side.”

It hasn’t been the start to the tournament that he was billed for. But he enjoys the confidence of his team.
“There’s no pressure of the price tag at all. There have been some conversations with higher-up management. I just have to enjoy the experience of IPL. This is my first time. There’s time to adjust to it,” he said.
