IPL 2023 GT vs SRH: Gill, Shami help Titans confirm playoff seat

Defending champions Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League match played at Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad on 15 May.

Batting first Titans scored 188 runs in 20 overs after losing 9 wickets, but in return Sunrisers managed to score only 154 runs and lost by 34 runs.

With this, Sunrisers are now out of the playoffs, while GT have confirmed their seat and are at the top of IPL points table with 14 points.

GT Innings:

After winning the toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Aiden Markram opted to bowl against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 match.

GT opener Wriddhiman Saha couldn’t score a single run and was sent off by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the very first over.

However, Shubman Gill remianed on the pitch and scored a century. He made 101 runs in 58 balls, hitting 13 fours and 1 six at a strike rate of 174.13. He was dismissed by B Kumar in the 20th over.

To give him ample support, Sai Sudarshan remained on the other side and scored 47 runs in 36 balls, before being dismissed by Marco Jansen in the 15th over.

Apart from Gill and Sudarshan, not even a single player could stand on the pitch for long and crossed a double digit. By the ned of 20 overs, GT put up 188 runs on scorecard after losing 9 wickets.

For SRH, B Kumar was the most successful bowler who took 5 wickets, while Marco Jansen, Fazalhaq Farooqi and T Natarajan took one wicket each.

SRH Innings:

Chasing a target of 189 in 20 overs, both the openers were dismissed in first two overs. Anmolpreet Singh (5) was departed by Yash Dayal in the first over, while, Abhishek Sharma’s wicket was taken by Mohammed Shami in the secind over.

Rahul Tripathi (1), Aiden Markram (10) and Heinrich Klaasen (64), all were dissmissed by Shami. Following the batting order collapsed.

Mohit Sharma dismissed Sanvir Singh (7), Abdul Samad (4), Marco Jansen (4) amd Bhuvneshwar Kumar (27). By the end of 20 overs, SRH managed to score only 154 runs after losing 9 wickets.

For GT, Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma took 4 wickets each, while Yash Dayal clinched one.
