IPL 2021: SRH’s Umran Malik bowls the fastest delivery of tournament against RCB
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Umran Malik, who had impressed one and all on his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Kolkata Knight Riders with his raw pace and action, bowled the fastest delivery of the tournament for an Indian pacer in his game at 151 km/hr.
Now, on Wednesday against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), not only he picked up his maiden wicket in the IPL, but he also bettered his speedometer by bowling the fastest delivery in a tournament featuring the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Lockie Ferguson and Anrich Nortje.
Malik came to bowl his first in the seventh over of the over and from the start, it was sheer gas from the 21-year old on the show. He was rushing the likes of Devdutt Padikkal and KS Bharat and he finally got the latter to make a mistake as he looked to pull at one of the shorter deliveries but it went past him in no time and took his glove on the way to Wriddhiman Saha’s gloves.
In his second, and the ninth of the innings, Umran Malik amped up the pace and broke all the records of the season. The first ball was clocked at 147, but he followed some quick ones as the second ball was bowled at 151, the third at 152 and the fourth at 153, which was the fastest of this season, surpassing Lockie Ferguson’s thunderbolt of 152.75 km/hr.
Malik, who was with the SRH side as a net bowler was inducted into the main squad as a short-term COVID-19 replacement for left-arm pacer Thangarasu Natarajan, who had tested positive on the morning of his side’s first game of the second half of IPL 2021.
Fans, experts, cricketers, couldn’t stop themselves from praising the young pacer.

Something about pace that has you on the edge of your seat. Umran Malik isn’t just a tearaway. He looks a proper bowler and we need to look after him.@IrfanPathan, any more there in Jammu and Kashmir?
