IPL 2021: SRH fans express despair over Warner cheering for SRH from stands, slam team management

Sports is a great leveler and the game of cricket is no different at even the very pinnacle. David Warner is usually seen flaying bowling attacks at will while opening the innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) but the belligerent Australian opener donned a different avatar in his franchise’s IPL 2021 game against Kolkata Knight Riders played at Dubai on October 3.

An out of form Warner, who has not made the Playing XI for SRH in the last few matches did not lose heart and his indomitable spirit was very much Gung Ho as he cheered on for the ‘Orange Army’ against Dinesh Karthik-skippered Purple-clad Knight Riders from the stands in Dubai International Stadium. The mood for Warner was very much cheerful as he was seen wearing the team jersey and waving the franchise flag.

It indeed presented a very different side of the swashbuckling opener to the fans as they are used to him being more on the green turf and putting on a real show with the willow. It was also a welcome change for the SRH supporters to see Warner in the stadium as he wasn’t seen in the team dugout in their last two games after being dropped from the playing XI.

Hailed as one of the most consistent overseas openers in the history of the IPL, David Warner slumped to his worst ever form this season aggregating only 195 runs from 8 games at a meagre average of under 25.

Out of play-offs contention, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s woeful run in IPL 2021 continues as they slumped to yet another defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders on Oct 3. Meanwhile, KKR improved upon their chances to qualify for the play-offs with a comprehensive 6-wicket win over bottom placed SRH.

Opener Shubhman Gill breezy fifty powered KKR to a very gettable 116-run chase and kept them in hunt to make it to the last four stage of the tournament.
