Patel, who had equalled SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s tally of 26 wickets in the 2017 edition in the last game, not only achieved Jasprit Bumrah’s tally of 27 wickets but surpassed and now stands on the verge of breaking Kagiso Rabada’s record of 30 wickets as well.
Dwayne Bravo holds the record for the most number of wickets by a bowler in one season – 32 – and Harshal, who surely will play at least two more games looks most likely to overhaul his record.
Harshal added to his wicket column dismissing SRH skipper Kane Williamson with one of the best change-ups as he pitched the ball on the good length and got it to grip just enough and hit the middle-stump.
Later he removed Wriddhiman Saha and Jason Holder to take his tally to 29 wickets in 13 games.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is followed by Harbhajan Singh in the 2013 season for Mumbai Indians and Jaydev Unadkat for Rising Pune Supergiant in the 2017 season, both with 24 wickets.
Harshal Patel’s spell and Dan Christian twin strikes in one over helped RCB come back and restrict SRH after Williamson and Jason Roy’s partnership.
A wicket of the first and last ball of the over from Dan Christian.
This time its the well-set batter Jason Roy who has to depart.
