ipad pro: Apple iPad Pro to reportedly come with M2 chip and MagSafe support – Times of India
Apple iPad Pro is due for an update and as per reports, the Cupertino-based tech giant is already gearing up to launch the iPad Pro 2022 models sometime around September and November this year.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported in his Power On newsletter that the upcoming iPad Pro will be powered by a next-generation M2 chipset. Along with that, he suspects that the new models will also come with MagSafe support.
We suspect that Apple will incorporate MacBook’s MagSafe as a 12.4-inch device hanging on a tiny iPhone-like MagSafe charger would look weird and impractical.
Apple last updated the design of the iPad Pro models in 2018 when the company introduced the sharp edge design and USB Type-C port. Since then, the Apple iPad Pro hasn’t seen much change in terms of design.
Meanwhile, information about the M1 successor chipset is pretty scarce and there’s not much known about them. However, it is expected that the M2 chip will offer faster performance compared to the M1 along with that it is expected to feature the same eight-core architecture.
Gurman has also speculated that the upcoming iPad Pro model will feature glass back design and boast wireless charging capabilities. But, a few days later, 9to5Mac reported that Apple may have dropped the glass back design and may stick with the aluminum back as on the ongoing model.
