Instagram went DOWN again, left almost 5000 people worried

Instagram was reportedly down in the early hours of July 15, almost 5000 people couldn’t access it. Here is the full report.

When Instagram and Facebook go down, they tend to shake up the entire world. In the early hours of July 15, when most of you were sleeping, or might be going through Instagram Stories, Instagram was actually out for a couple of users. In fact, based on data from Downstetector, almost 5000 complaints were made from across the globe, with people complaining of inability to access the social media platform. Instagram swung into action quickly and fixed it before it flared up.

The Downdetector data suggests that reports of the outage started arriving around 1 AMon July 15 and it peaked at around 3 AM with almost 5000 individual complaints from across the world.

“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing Instagram. We’re working to get things back to normal and apologize for any inconvenience,” a Meta spokesperson said in an emailed statement to Reuters.

Most issues were resolved by 4 AM and Instagram ahs been running fine ever since. The Instagram outage came soon after July 14’s outage of Twitter, which had a near three-hour outage that affected as many as 50,000 users at its peak, according to Downdetector.com.

This brief outage was, however, nothing compared to the mega six-hour outage that took place last year. That outage had knocked off all of Meta’s services, which included WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger. The outage rendered these platforms inaccessible for billions of users.

Instagram is yet to explain the reason behind this outage but the services seem to be running fine at the moment.

On the other hand, Instagram recently announced that it would roll out a subscription based service for creators. This service will allow creators to create exclusive reels and stories for their paid followers. Creators will also be able to create a special Home page for their followers.
