Instagram starts testing a new home feed without a shopping tab with limited users – Times of India

Meta-owned instant photo and video sharing platform, Instagram has started testing a new home feed with a select group of users. The new home feed on Instagram does not include the shopping tab.
The Verge has reported that a select number of Instagram users are seeing a new home feed on their app that does not include the shopping tab which is otherwise usually found at the bottom of the page. According to the report, the shopping tab has been removed with a notification tab.
It’s not that Meta has completely removed the feature, the shopping option now finds a new location under the second Menu along with the Settings and other options.
The new home feed changes have also been confirmed by Meta spokesperson Anne Yeh. Yeh has also confirmed that these changes are for a limited time.
“As part of our continued work to simplify your Instagram experience, we are testing a few changes to the main navigation bar at the bottom of the app with a small number of people,” Yeh says.
The new home feed with no shopping tab is assumed to be a part of the company’s new approach toward e-commerce on its platform. As per a previous report by The Information, Instagram is planning to move away from e-commerce and that includes the removal of shopping options. The Information has also reported that the company is also planning to test a new shopping feature called Tab Life.
