Instagram now lets you Remix photos too! Do not worry, you can turn it off

Instagram now brings the ability to Remix photos along with Reels. Users will be able to opt out of this option as well.

Instagram brings another big feature to help creators create interesting Remix videos. So far, Remix allowed creators to only use Reels videos. Instagram, however, was originally created to share photos and those of you wanting to create Remix videos with images or static memes can do so. Users will get to use new layouts for remixing the photos and video Remixes as well. Additionally, users can now also create sequential layouts in Remix videos.

Instagram creators will be able to use photos from all public accounts and use them in their Remix videos. Note that creators will only be able to create Remix videos from accounts that are public. Once the update goes live, all photo posts on Instagram will have the Remix feature turned on by default. You will be able to disable this on an individual basis, and you can do the same from the Account settings.

Instagram Remix to let you use Photos as well

Instagram says that your old Photo posts won’t have the Remix feature enabled by default, although you can do so by going to those individual posts.

Other than remixing Photos, there are updates to the Remix feature for videos. You will be able to use Video layouts. You can “choose between a green screen, horizontal or vertical split-screen, or picture-in-picture reaction view to add your own video commentary to existing reels,” says Instagram.

Additionally, a new layout also lets you add your Remix clip after the original video plays. Those who create a lot of Reels will now have templates to play with. Users will also be able to come up with dual video feed mode, wherein you can have feeds from both the front and rear cameras play at the same time.

All video posts that shorter than 15 minutes will now also be uploaded as Reels videos. Earlier, this was limited to videos with duration of 90 seconds. You will also be able to see all your video posts and Reels under one common tab in the Profile section.
