Instagram Feeds got a SERIOUS problem
Instagram got two new modes to browse your feed – Following and Favourites. But there is a problem with that! Know what.
A few days back, Instagram decided to change the way your feed looks. The meta-owned photo sharing app announced that it would bring back its much-wanted chronological feed mode. Not just that, it also mentioned that there will be certain fresh modes too, which will give you more choice and control over what you see while using the app. Both the new modes – ‘Following’ and ‘Favourites’ can be easily accessed while tapping on the word “Instagram” at the top left of the app and selecting what you want according to your preference.
Instagram’s new Feed modes
Among these, the ‘Following’ feed will provide you with the posts from the latest posts that you follow in the order that they have been posted. This will also allow you to add up to 50 accounts and posts and your favourites and it will show up in the higher main feed.
While selecting the ‘Following’ mode which is most commonly known as chronological feed is what used to be the case earlier with Instagram. And now again, it allows you to present the content only from your following accounts but presented in reverse order while presenting the newest at the top. This basically allows you to avoid Instagram’s infamous feed algorithm and let you decide that this particular content is most deserving of your attention from the accounts that you are following while suggesting posts from the unfollowed ones.
But these new Instagram Feed modes have problems…
The Favourite feed of Instagram will only show you the posts that you have seen before or may have interacted with earlier. There is no way back for the users to return to the Favourites feed and then look at the posts they left out.
Well, the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri mentions that these new feed filters will enable Instagram users to discover that they didn’t even know existed, but they might enjoy or love that. He further claims that average accounts reach 50 percent more followers than on a chronological feed. But the problem is that for most users, the curated main feed of Instagram will always remain the default option, whenever they open Instagram.
The problem is that accounts that do not have a great ranking, will probably never come anywhere near where you may get to notice them.
