With the major signings and trades already done, it’s time to ask: Who are the MLB offseason’s biggest winners and losers?

Carlos Correa signed with the Minnesota Twins. Aaron Judge signed with the New York Yankees. Trea Turner signed with the Philadelphia Phillies after being offered more money in San Diego.

The offseason presented many moves, both big and small, and plenty of surprises. Who were the offseason’s biggest winners and loser?

Winner: Philadelphia Phillies

“If you build it, they will come” seems like the perfect quote to describe the Philadelphia Phillies.

Superstar shortstop Trea Turner turned down $42 million more with the San Diego Padres to sign with the Phillies on a $300 million contract. They signed Taijuan Walker, Craig Kimbrel and Matt Strahm. They then acquired closer Gregory Soto and second baseman Kody Clemens in a five-player trade with the Detroit Tigers.

After a World Series appearance, the arrow continues to point up for the Phillies. They will once again be among the most prominent threats in the National League, especially once Bryce Harper returns from offseason surgery. President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski has set up this Phillies team to not just contend in 2023 but in seasons beyond.
