Inside Khaite and Bergdorf Goodman’s Moody Cocktail Party
While the holidays have yet to arrive, last night’s soiree celebrating New York cult-favorite fashion brand, Khaite, and the opening of its newly dedicated shop at Bergdorf Goodman felt like a festive precursor. Guests were welcomed by a moody, dimly lit autumnal tablescape, immaculately styled yet simultaneously undone—grapes thoughtfully spilled out of bowls, whole lobsters perched atop of silver trays, and near-black calla lilies darted out of vases amidst a bevy of candles.
The room was reminiscent of Khaite’s most recent runway show in September, equally lowlit, moody, and beautiful. But it wasn’t just a visual throughline from Khaite’s spring 2021 collection at last night’s cocktail event. The brand’s new shop-in-shop at quintessentially New York luxury store Bergdorf Goodman felt just as much an ode to New York City as the spring collection itself. “Bergdorf Goodman is the epicenter of luxury and represents an era of destination shopping that is harder and harder to come by these days,” Khaite’s Catherine Holstein tells Vogue. “The fact that the store has consistently remained so beautiful and hypnotic while celebrating its 120th anniversary is such a testament to their unique perspective on retail. Having a permanent shop at BG is a dream come true.”
In attendance were Khaite’s Catherine Holstein, model Ella Emhoff, stylist Vanessa Traina, actor Genevieve Jones, make-up artist Cyndle Komarovski, influencer Amy Sall, as well as Bergdorf Goodman’s Elle Strauss, Linda Fargo, and Yumi Shin. While sipping on cocktails, enveloped in music with sweeping views of Central Park outside Bergdorf’s BG restaurant, it was an exciting early kickoff to the holiday season and a new chapter for Holstein and her brand Khaite.
