India will be happy to host Quad summit in 2024: PM Modi

PM Modi also emphasized that the “Quad will continue to make efforts towards global good, the welfare of the people, prosperity, and peace.”

US President Joe Biden said that the Quad grouping has the potential to change the dynamics of the world.

“…I think people will look at this Quad 20-30 years from now and say that change is dynamic not only in the region but the world. In my view, we have made enormous progress in the last two years,” US President Joe Biden said.

Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida vowed to engage in practical cooperation with other groupings/countries of South Asia and the Pacific Islands.

“…We will listen to the voices of regional countries of ASEAN, South Asia & Pacific island states to engage in practical cooperation which delivers true benefits to the region as a force for good,” Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said.

Australia Prime Minister Anthony Albanese affirmed standing together for an open, stable, secure, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.

“I am delighted to be among close friends again. Standing together for an open, stable, secure, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region. A region where sovereignty is respected and all countries large and small benefit from the regional balance,” Australia Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said.

Quad is a multilateral grouping of four countries- India, Australia, the United States, and Japan with an aim to ensure and support a “free, open, and prosperous” Indo-Pacific region. The group was formed in 2017 and presents a strong challenge to the expansionist policies of China.

This year’s Quad Summit was originally scheduled in Australia but was conducted in Japan as US President Joe Biden had to postpone his trip to Australia due to ongoing debt limit talks in Washington. Japan is hosting the G7 summit and all the leaders of the group are currently visiting the country. Although India is not a member of G7, PM Modi is also traveling to Japan for the G7 and Quad Summit on a personal invite of Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida.
