India vs West Indies: Learned a lot while batting with seniors, says Yashasvi Jaiswal | Cricket News – Times of India

Yashasvi Jaiswal said it was a great learning experience to bat alongside seniors like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli during his dream international debut in India’s first Test against the West Indies in Dominica.
Jaiswal contributed with 171 runs, while opening the batting with skipper Rohit, as India crushed the hosts to win by an innings and 141 runs inside three days.
Rohit, who scored 103, and Jaiswal put together an opening partnership of 229 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin took 12 wickets in the match (5/60 and 7/71) to spin India to an emphatic victory.
The win gave the visitors an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-Test series.
“Preparation was pretty good. We were having a nice session. I spoke a lot to Rahul Dravid sir. Would like to thank all the selectors and Rohit (Sharma) bhai for having faith in me. It is really nice, I had been working for this,” said Jaiswal at the post-match presentation.
“I have been focusing on preparing well and having discipline. Playing Test cricket for India is very special and emotional for me. This is just the start, I need to keep my focus and keep working on my cricket. Lot of people helped me through my journey and I want to thank each and everyone of them.

“It was tremendous batting with the senior players. I look forward to learning more from them.”
Jaiswal was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ for his century.
West Indies scored 150 and 130 in their two innings, respectively, while India declared their only innings of the match at 421 for 5.
