IND vs WI 4th T20I: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill star as India thrash West Indies by 9 wickets
Gil and Jaiswal formed an outstanding partnership, stitching together a whopping 165 runs for the opening wicket in India’s pursuit of 179.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (84 not out off 51) and Shubman Gill (77 off 47) were the heroes of the day as India triumphed over West Indies by nine wickets in the fourth T20I held in Lauderhill. This incredible win has now leveled the five-match series at 2-2, with just one more match to go.
Gil and Jaiswal formed an outstanding partnership, stitching together a whopping 165 runs for the opening wicket in India’s pursuit of 179. It was a sight to behold as they dominated the West Indies bowlers and paved the way for a resounding victory.
Earlier, the West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first. Brandon King and Shai Hope made a solid start, but Arshdeep Singh managed to slow them down in the powerplay by taking a couple of wickets. Kuldeep then added to the damage by dismissing Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell in the first over after the powerplay.
However, Shai Hope, who was playing his first T20I in over a year, and Shimron Hetmyer formed a strong partnership and took West Indies past the 100-run mark in no time.
India fought back during the middle overs, with Hope missing out on a well-deserved half-century. Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd also fell quickly without making much of an impact on the scorecard. But in the last five overs, the West Indies managed to score 57 runs, thanks largely to Hetmyer, who found his form again and scored a brilliant 61 off just 39 balls. With this, the West Indies ended their innings with a total score of 178/8.
