Team India skipper Jasprit Bumrah played a knock for the ages, and the history books as well, as he broke the world record for most runs in a single over in Test cricket history. Bumrah decked 29 runs as he smacked Stuart Broad for 3 boundaries and 2 maximums in that over.
While Broad conceded 35 runs, the most ever in a single over in Test cricket history, Bumrah’s blitzkrieg brought immense joy to the Indian team and their fans.

Bumrah surpassed West Indies great Brian Lara’s tally of 28 runs, to become the batsman with the highest runs in a single over in Test cricket history.
The stand-in skipper remained unbeaten and his valuable contribution towards the end helped India cross the massive 400-run mark as they folded for 416 runs.

Earlier on day 1, Rishabh Pant had scored 146 runs in 111 balls, while Ravindra Jadeja contributed 104 runs in 194 balls, as James Anderson picked up five wickets by the end of India’s first innings.
