IND vs AUS Test Series: BCCI announces squad; Maiden call-up for Kishan, Jadeja to make comeback

BCCI on Friday, has announced squad for India’s Test series against Australia. While Rohit Sharma will lead the men in blue, KL Rahul is named as the vice-captain. 

Suryakumar Yadav has been added to India’s Test team for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar series against Australia with wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan getting his maiden call-up in the longer version.

Prithvi Shaw who performed brilliantly in the domestic game has failed to make a cut. On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja who has been out due to injury will be making a comeback subject tpo his fitness. KL Rahul and Axar Patel who are excluded from the Indian squad for the New Zealand series due to family commitments will come back after their break in the Test series beginning from the 9th of February.

Jasprit Bumrah will continue his rehabilitation and is excluded from the squad. The pace attack has Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj with recently recalled Jaydev Unadkat as a left-arm option.

Fans were left disheartened by the exclusion of Sanju Samson and Sarfaraz Khan from all the squads.

The series is important for both teams as the result will impact the WTC final standings. The series begins in Nagpur on the 9th of February with Tests in Delhi, Dharamsala and Ahmedabad.
