Team India have named their starting line-up for the second Test match in Delhi as Shreyas Iyer returns in place of Suryakumar Yadav. The change remains India’s solitary alteration as Surya, who played in the Nagpur Test will have to sit out. Notably, KL Rahul is once again chosen ahead of Shubman Gill as the latter continues to warm the bench.

Shreyas Iyer return from injury

Iyer who has been out of action for last one month has retuned in the team, having sustained a back injury. The right-hand batter was last seen in action on January 15 against Sri Lanka in the ODI series. This will be Iyer’s first Test match in 2023 and will look to cement his place in the team having seen competition from other players.

Suryakumar Out

Suryakumar Yadav who was handed his debut cap for India in the Nagpur Test made way for Shreyas. Surya was India’s 305th player to play in the red-ball format but will now have to warm the bench in the company of Shubman Gill and others.

At the start of play, Cheteshwar Pujara was felicitated by former India captain Sunil Gavaskar as the India batter earned his 100th cap for in Test cricket. Pujara became just the 13th Indian player to play in 100 Test matches for India.
