Incredible details of Dally M red carpet looks

A detail in the look being rocked by an NRL star’s mum was so much better than all the other glitz and glamour from the Dally M red carpet.

NRL stars were again overshadowed by their partners at the Dally M Awards on Monday night.

The black tie gala event at Howard Smith Wharves in Brisbane had all the usual glitz and glamour of genetically-blessed stars on the red carpet.

The head-turning outfits were everywhere as couples made their way into the event — but the best looks were only really appreciated after the cameras had been put away.

Manly star Tom Trbojevic was the star of the night as he was awarded the Dally M Player of the Year Award, but you could certainly make a case that Melbourne Storm star Brandon Smith’s mum, Tirohia Smith, also deserves just as much applause.

The proud mum walked the red carpet as her son’s date for the evening with a classic, sleeveless black dress in an ensemble which showed off a tattoo on her right shoulder.

Pictures from the red carpet show her with a tattoo which features a block of cheese underneath the words “Champ Cheese”.

To understand just how boss a move it is from the Kiwi mum, you have to remember Brandon Smith’s affectionate nickname of “Cheese” has become one of the most popular nicknames in the competition this year.

Referred to by teammates as “Hectic Cheese”, Smith has kept quiet about the ink on his mum’s shoulder. Now the cat is out of the bag and fans are loving the special connection the tattoo shows. Smith last year gave his premiership ring to his mum — something that made her cry.

Tirohia was not alone in rocking the red carpet with a look that included some amazing details.

Panthers forward James Fisher-Harris and partner Natalie Apikotoa stepped out with their newborn son in their arms.

Just eight weeks old, the new bubs was one of the cutest sight on the carpet as he was seen sporting an adorable vest and bow-tie combo.

The couple are also proud parents to four-year-old daughter Tahira.

It wasn’t hard to miss why Brittany Carey, the partner of Panthers star Viliame Kikau, was such an amazing sight on the red carpet as she walked in with a flattering patterned dress which showed off her growing baby bump.

They also had some stiff competition from Broncos star Millie Boyle, who stepped out in a figure-hugging white dress that dazzled onlookers. It was her first public appearance since her so-called toilet cubicle tryst with former Bulldogs star Adam Elliott.

Tom Trbojevic and his partner Kristi Wilkinson also led the way on the red carpet.

Wilkinson dazzled in a white silk dress, and displayed a beaming smile as she stood next to Trbojevic — a hot favourite for the Dally M medal.

The pair became ‘Insta-official’ in April, when Wilkinson uploaded a photo to her Instagram account with the caption “duo”.

Taryn Carson, girlfriend of Rabbitohs star Alex Johnston, earlier wowed fans on social media with her bold look.

The strapless gown, designed by bridal designer Karen Willis Holmes, featured statement ruffled sleeves and a long train.

Many other WAGs went for black dresses and gowns, with Maria Glinellis, the girlfriend of Rooster’s player James Tedesco choosing one that featured sexy cut outs on the waist and across her bust.

Kate Daly, the wife of Broncos player Ali Brigginshaw, chose a traditional black satin gown with a bow detailing on the hip.

While Zoe Warwick, the partner of Matt Burton, wore a ruffled black number that had sheer panels.
