Leave it to La DoubleJ’s JJ Martin to transform a New York coffee shop into an over-the-top cocktail party filled with vintage Italian finds. Dressed in the brand’s latest homeware collection, Soho’s Felix Roasting Co-hosted friends and fashion folk in honor of La DoubleJ’s exclusive launch with 1stDibs. Bountiful bouquets of flowers filled with shades of bright pink and lush green set the playful mood for the evening.
“This night is about joy,” Martin smiled. “What I love about homeware and the art of setting the table is that it’s made to share and experience with someone else.”
Upon arrival, guests were greeted at the door with a tablescape outfitted in LaDouble J’s finest homeware pieces like the slinky printed napkins, fringe pillows, gold-plated flatware, and, of course, Champagne saucers in bold colorways. Attendees including Aamito Lagum, Indre Rockefeller, Lili Buffet, Chloe King, Isabella Massenet, and Aube Jolicoeur all arrived in La DoubleJ numbers.
AD’s Amy Astley made sure to stop by and check out Martin’s unmatched ability to breathe life into her vibrant homeware designs.
“One of my favorite pieces is the set of vintage, porcelain plates that were made for a dinner Napoleon III hosted at an aristocratic family’s home in Verona and found in an Italian archive,” Martin explained of the statement plates she reproduced with a classic La DoubleJ take, a bubble-gum pink border.
Near the espresso machines and coffee cups, a barista turned bartender served up craft cocktails all night long. On the mezzanine floor, where more of La DoubleJ’s finest creations were on display, passed canapés were of plenty like dainty cherry tomatoes stuffed with mozzarella and topped with basil.
Music guru Mei Kwok curated the soundtrack for the soirée, which was naturally filled with upbeat Italian discoteca tracks. But Inyang Bassey stole the show with a surprise serenade for the groovy crowd. Before guests bid the night adieu, everyone toasted to the spirit to the season, one Martin so effortlessly makes her own.
