In London, Poorna Jagannathan Relishes “One Of The Best Desi Meals” Of Her Life

The satisfaction of relishing authentic desi food in a foreign land cannot be put into words. Something similar happened with Poorna Jagannathan, who recently had “one of the best meals” of her life at a London restaurant. Wondering what all the Never Have I Ever actress relished? A delicious thali. Going by the photo shared by Poorna, the platter consisted of a portion of rice, piping hot pooris, black chane served with a lemon slice and green chilli, delicious-looking eggplant curry, masaledar aloo, and a bowl of beetroot curd. Not to mention pickles and small circular papads. Sounds scrumptious, doesn’t it?

The actress, in a long caption, explained how the meal served at the restaurant reminded her of “desi khana.” She wrote, “So there’s Indian food, and then there’s Desi khana. Desi khana is food made at home- it’s simpler, more flavorful, and made from recipes passed down from a long line of women in the family.” Poorna also shared a bunch of pictures with the restaurant owner, Asma Khan and her staff. Thanking Asma for the incredible foodie experience, the actress wrote, “Asma was featured on @chefstablenetflix and her kitchen is female-led and female-staffed. And she is pure. Thank you, Asma and all the beautiful staff we met. It was our favourite experience in London.”
