- The duo were meant to fight last year before Benn failed a drugs test
- Hearn admitted he would be worried for Eubank Jr in a bout against Benn
Matchroom boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has advised British middleweight Chris Eubank Jr not to seek out a fight with long-term rival Conor Benn in the wake of his weekend loss to Liam Smith.
Eubank Jr’s suffered a third professional career defeat after being stopped by Smith in the fourth round as the victor produced a dominant display that saw the former rocked on several occasions.
Chief antagoniser Benn sought to rattle Eubank Jr’s camp following the loss and tweeted : ‘Oh man, @ChrisEubankJr, it’s a good job you didn’t fight me. You’d last two rounds at 160.’

Now his cocky comments have been echoed by Hearn, with the promoter who warning Eubank Jr not to step into the ring with Benn.
Eubank Jr previously said he would ‘punish’ Benn inside the ring
‘Conor Benn in my opinion punches harder, faster and more spiteful than Liam Smith…I don’t know if Eubank Jr would want to fight someone like Conor coming off that defeat, Hearn told IFLTV.
‘If he was my fighter, I would be very concerned about fighting Conor Benn next.’
Benn further sought to discourage a potential bout as he shared a video which called upon Eubank Jr to quit boxing to avoid ‘being hurt anymore’.
The pair were scheduled to settle their differences in the ring on October 8 of last year but saw the fight collapse at the last-minute after Benn tested positive for banned substances by boxing’s regulators.
Benn saw his reputation cast into the gutter after his positive test for clomifene, with Eubank Jr at the time vowing to ‘punish’ his opponent when they eventually come up against one another.

For now it appears Eubank, son of former world middleweight and super-middleweight champion Chris Eubank, will look to secure a rematch with Smith following his shock loss.
But a renewed clash with Benn could await him should he take up the opportunity, with Hearn’s latest comments a possible attempt to draw attention to the fight that never happened.
