Ice Cream And More: Elon Musk Sends Thanksgiving Goodies To ISS Astronauts

Amidst all this, the SpaceX founder grabbed the spotlight with his latest initiative for the astronauts at the International Space Station (ISS). Reportedly, Musk has sent Thanksgiving goodies to the space. Yes, you heard that right!

For the unversed, Elon Musk’s SpaceX recently launched the Falcon 9 rocket, which was set in motion for the 26th Dragon Commercial Resupply Services mission to the space station, on November 26, 2022. As per the reports doing the rounds on Internet, the rocket carried 3500 kilograms of crew supplies, hardware, scientific materials and some Thanksgiving treats. CNN reports, the treats comprised ice creams, green beans, cranberry apple desserts, pumpkin pie, candy corn and more. That’s not all. The rocket also carried new solar arrays and dwarf tomato seeds.

As per SpaceX news, the launch of the rocket was initially scheduled for November 22, 2022, which got delayed due to weather reasons. While the astronauts are enjoying their Thanksgiving treats, they are also putting the dwarf tomato seeds into use for “testing plant growth on the International Space Station,” according to NASA.

CNN further reports that the dwarf tomatoes will be grown inside small bags underneath two different light treatments. A control experiment will also be held on Earth at the same time.
