ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021: Virat Kohli finally breaks silence over MS Dhoni’s appointment as Team India mentor

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 news: Team India skipper Virat Kohli on Saturday (October 16) finally broke silence over the appointment of ex-skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the mentor of India squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup saying that Dhoni’s eye for details and practical advice will help the team.

It is to be noted that Dhoni was the skipper when Kohli started his international career. Both Dhoni and Kohli share good relationship both on and off the field.

In September, it was announced by BCCI that Dhoni will be Team India’s mentor for T20 World Cup in Dubai. The BCCI’s decision was welcomed by almost everyone in the cricket community.

Kohli said Dhoni was a mentor for majority of the players in the current ICC T20 World Cup squad when they started their career.

“He has got massive experience. He is quite excited himself to be back in that environment. He has always been a mentor for all of us when we were starting our careers through till the time he was with the team,” Kohli said during the media session.

“Younger guys who are playing their first major tournaments at early stages of career will benefit. His eye for intricate details and practical advice will help improve the game by one or two per cent. We are absolutely delighted to have him…(His) presence will not only boost morale but also increase confidence that we already have,” he added.

Accordng to Kohli, the game awareness of the former India skipper would prove important in garnering “practical inputs” on where the match is going and how the team can improve.

On Fridya, Dhoni won the IPL title for a fourth time as the skipper of Chennai Super Kings.
