I have not taken any supplements to enhance performance: Dutee Chand | More sports News – Times of India

BHUBANESWAR: India’s ace sprinter Dutee Chand, who has reportedly tested positive for prohibited anabolic steroids during an out-of-competition testing, said she was not aware about this matter.
While speaking to TOI, Dutee on Wednesday said she will go through her email inbox and find out whether she has received any mail on this matter. “I am travelling right now. After returning home, I will check it out and speak in detail about the issue,” she added.
The sprinter said she sometimes faces hormonal imbalance in her body. “Similar situation happened in 2014 where I was accused of being a ‘male’ for failing the hyperandrogenism test. Later a gender verification test was conducted on me. I fought against the World Athletics‘ policy in the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in 2015 and returned to sports,” she added.
Dutee said she has not taken any supplements to enhance her performance. She had not taken part in any event during the recent past. “In 2021, I took some medicines for my groin pain in Patiala. As there was no competition, I had taken some medicines for my pain. I don’t know whether it was the reason behind the fresh test result or other natural hormonal imbalance,” she added.
The athlete said she got to know about this matter from media persons only. “I don’t know exactly what the matter is. A letter, which is being circulated on social media regarding my dope test result, does not have the memo number or signature of any prominent officer of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). That’s why I do not have clarity on this matter,” she added.
Dutee said there was no competition. Her sample was collected out-of-competition at Bhubaneswar on December 5 last year. “The national anti-doping agency can conduct tests whenever they want. They had taken samples twice,” she added.
“If the news is true, I will apply before the agency to conduct a test of Sample B for more clarity on the result. Sample A and Sample B have the same urine. First sample is tested by the agency on their own. If any problem arises, Sample B is tested in front of the athlete, his/her coach and lawyer,” said Dutee.
The athlete said she will plan her next course of action on this matter after going through the letter. “My life is full of challenges. Let’s see what happens,” she added.
