I am with Trinamool Congress and will stay with the party: Partha Chatterjee
“I am with Trinamool Congress and will stay with the party,” Chatterjee told mediapersons, while coming out of SSKM hospital. It is pertinent to mention, the West Bengal government has removed Chatterjee from all his minstrel posts and Trinamool Congress removed him from party posts, including as party secretary general, seven days after his arrest.
Chatterjee was rushed to state government-run SSKM hospital today afternoon after his creatinine levels became high and he had difficulty in movement. Chatterjee underwent a number of tests in SSKM hospital, following which he was released from the hospital.
On August 18, the judicial custody of Chatterjee and his aide Arpita Mukherjeee was extended till August 31 in connection with the WBSSC scam.
Chatterjee’s counsel had pleaded for Chatterjee’s bail citing his ill health, including low haemoglobin, high creatinine levels and immobility. The counsel informed the court that Chatterjee fell ill on August 12 and he is becoming immobile due to various ailments.
Political debate continued over Chatterjee’s comments today. BJP National Vice-President Dilip Ghosh said, “Chatterjee is with Trinamool Congress. But the question lies, whether the party is with him.”
CPIM central committee member Sujan Chakraborty claimed Chatterjee knew his party well and a leader once suspended can get back to the party. Citing the example of Kunal Ghosh who was arrested and later rejoined Trinamool, Chakraborty said, “If Ghosh can be brought back to the party, Chatterjee knows that he can settle things and come back to his party.”
